  • A number of hot-air balloon companies operate in Jackson. Each offers slightly different flight options. The Wyoming Balloon Company floats guests above the Bridger-Teton forest, a working ranch, and the Snake River—and salutes the flight with a champagne toast.
  • For a road biking excursion through the heart of the Snake River Range, leave Wilson and head south on Fall Creek Road.
  • Jackson area’s START buses are equipped with bike racks, acting as a shuttle to help you navigate between bike routes.
  • Come winter check out the high red cliffs near Slide Lake at the end of the Gros Ventre River Road. More than 70 miles of groomed cross-country, snowmobiling, and snowshoe trails can be accessed in this wildlife-rich region, including the Continental Divide Snowmobile Trail.
  • Cross-country skiers should plan on traversing though the Granite Creek Road south of Hoback Junction on Highway 191/189. While the ungroomed trail is shared with snowshoers and snowmobilers, the ten-mile hot springs at the end of the road make the trip worthwhile.

  • My spouse and I would like to spend 3-4 days doing day hikes in the Grand Teton/Jackson area, then come back in the evening to a pleasant, peaceful, lodging that is couples-friendly (our nest has just emptied, so we'd like a break from the frenetic "family vacation" crowd). We would be arriving the week after Labor Day. Any suggestions on hiking and lodging?
