Jackson Aerial Sports Travel Tips

  • A number of balloon companies operate in Jackson. Each offers slightly different flight options. The Wyoming Balloon Company floats guests above the Bridger-Teton forest, a working ranch, and the Snake River—and salutes the flight with a champagne toast.
  • Experienced paragliders will appreciate the number of flying sites around Jackson, including Rendezvous Mountain atop Jackson Hole Mountain Resort's aerial tram and 10,000-foot Beaver Mountain. Jackson Hole Paragliding offers guides and tandems.
  • Paragliders looking to tow should head to the Palisades Reservoir 35 miles southwest of Jackson on the Wyoming-Idaho border. Jackson Hole Paragliding leads weekly clinics on the lake in the summertime.
  • Hang gliding sites abound in and around Jackson as well. The aerial tram at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is popular with gliders, as is the Phillips Ridge outside of Wilson and 2,300 feet above ground level. Cowboy Up Hang Gliding in Wilson offers lessons and tandem flights for first-timers.

  • My spouse and I would like to spend 3-4 days doing day hikes in the Grand Teton/Jackson area, then come back in the evening to a pleasant, peaceful, lodging that is couples-friendly (our nest has just emptied, so we'd like a break from the frenetic "family vacation" crowd). We would be arriving the week after Labor Day. Any suggestions on hiking and lodging?
