Mount Rainier National Park Snowshoeing Travel Tips

Mount Rainier is one of the snowiest places on earth. Take a guided snowshoe walk with a park ranger and discover how the plants and animals of Mount Rainier adapt to the world-record snowfalls. Snowshoe walks begin in mid-December and run through April. Between mid-December and early January, walks are offered daily.
Mount Rainier National Park is open all year, but in winter only two park entrances are open: the Nisqually Entrance in the southwest corner of the park and the Carbon River Entrance in the northwest corner of the park.
The National Park Inn at Longmire remains open for lodging and dining year round. The road from Longmire to Paradise is plowed all winter. The gentle ridges and broad plateaus at the base of the peak provide great snow conditions with unequaled views across half the Northwest.
