  • Camp out at Cape Disappointment State Park, a 1,882-acre campground filled with hiking trails, an interpretive center, and two lighthouses at the mouth of the Columbia River that warn ships of rough waters.
  • Bring your wetsuit to Waikiki Beach, the only swim-safe beach on the peninsula. But don't be fooled by the name—the water is very cold.
  • Visit during the third week in August to catch two local events: the annual Jazz & Oysters benefit and the Kite Festival.
