Take advantage of Alki Beach Park—a premier two-mile outdoor classroom for scuba instruction. Classes include wreck diving, marine life identification, and underwater photography.
Divers will delight in sandy-bottom waters; home to sea stars, copper rockfish, and perch.
Average visibility is ten to 50 feet with wintertime maximums up to 100 feet.
Dive with a dry suit for the best protection against exposure; water temperatures average 42 to 45 degrees throughout the year.
Stay near the shore and use a compass—tidal currents can be disorienting.
