Zion National Park Camping Travel Tips

  • Located a half-mile north of the south entrance, the South Campground is open from mid-March through October and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Although there are no hook-ups available, the sites can be used by both tents and RVs.
  • The Watchman Campground is open between mid-March and October. Reservations are available. There are sites near the river and some are equipped with electricity. Group campsites are available for up to 40 people. The campground's location above the North Fork Virgin River provides great views of the park.
  • There are six primitive campsites available at Lava Point in the Kolob Terrace Section of Zion National Park. Usually open from June to November, it is a good idea to stop off at one of the visitor center locations to inquire about conditions and to obtain a permit.
  • Red Ledge Campground is located seven miles north of Kolob Canyons in Kanarraville. The campground is open seasonally from April to November with tent, RV, and group sites available.

Camping Overview: Zion National Park

Watchman and South Campgrounds are open on a first-come, first-served basis. One is open year-round; both are open in summer. A fee is charged. Both have fire grates, picnic tables, water, restrooms, and a sanitary disposal station for trailers. There are no utility hookups or showers. Some sites are set aside for the disabled.
