Brian Head Day Hiking Travel Tips

Hikers atop the 11,307-foot Brian Head Peak have excellent opportunities to spot high-altitude birds, especially migrating raptors in the fall. You might see peregrine and prairie falcons, ferruginous and other species of hawks, bald and golden eagles, and smaller birds.
From Brian Head Peak look for Nevada’s Wheeler Peak to the northwest, Arizona’s Mount Trumbull to the south, Navajo Mountain to the southeast, the Grand Staircase to the east, and Utah’s little-known desert ranges to the north.
A network of interconnecting trails on Brian Head Peak offers lots of variety, ranging from easy walks to the 26-mile Marathon Trail. Vistas include colorful Cedar Breaks National Monument as well as distant mountains.
At an elevation of 11,000 feet and a length of 10,000 feet, Brian Head Resort’s alpine disc golf course is Utah’s highest and longest. You can either hike up or take the chairlift, which operates on the weekends.
