I would like to travel 11/27/09 - 12/02/09. I am single and interested in educational or historic events with a little night life (jazz). I thought about New York city but realized that it might be very cold this time of year. Do you have another suggested ?

Our daughters have never been on a road trip. They're young and we would like to do something for Spring Break in March. I heard from a colleague how beautiful the Smoky Mts are. I don't even know where to begin looking. I would like to stay in a cheap place (<$80 per night) and be able to enjoy the view and outdoor activities. They have never seen snow either. What do you recommend? Hotels? Cabins? Routes? Websites?
