Out of the three major U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI), Saint Thomas is the most populous, as opposed to Saint Croix or Saint John. It's also the island with the most hotels and a bustling city, Charlotte Amalie, a cruise port with ample shopping. Especially when ships dock, Charlotte Amalie can feel as crowded as Manhattan's Fifth Avenue the day before Christmas.
