Visit the underwater park at Trunk Bay. Just off the beach at this U.S. National Park lies Trunk Island, where an underwater trail denoted by informative signs along the seafloor leads snorkelers on a beginner’s guide to Caribbean marine life.
For easy access to the prime snorkeling at St. John’s numerous surrounding islands and cays, join a snorkel trip via motorboat, sailboat, or even kayak. Rates start at around $70 for a half-day.
For a great self-guided adventure, pack a lunch and drive out to Leinster Bay. Snorkel to and around offshore Waterlemon Cay, where the shallow, sandy sea floor is littered with colorful sea stars and sea cucumbers.
