Three great rivers within three hours of Portland—the Deschutes, Metolius, and Crooked Rivers—offer excellent opportunities year-round to catch nice fish.

Just outside of Portland, the lower Sandy River flows through a deep, forested gorge known for its anadromous fish runs, botanical diversity, great boating opportunities, and scenic beauty. Anglers will appreciate its riverside trails.
The Sandy River has a healthy run of Steelhead and Spring Chinook salmon from spring into July. The Steelhead run six to 13 pounds, and the Spring Chinook salmon average 15 to 20 pounds.

I am bringing two grandchildren ages 10 and 12 via the train to Portland from Tacoma, WA. What are the best places to take them to shop for school clothes and have fun? We will be there the weekend of 8/28-30.
