  • Just because there's not a professional sports team within 450 miles doesn't mean you can't see a good game here. The Albuquerque Isotopes—a minor league affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers—are named for an episode of The Simpsons. Next door, the University of New Mexico Lobos basketball team plays at University Arena (aka, "The Pit"), once ranked as the loudest venue in sports.
  • Spice things up with some Northern Mexican cuisine. Nearly every dish is served with a choice of red- or green-chili sauce. (Those wishing for both should ask for "Christmas.")
  • Take flight at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, held the first week of October. More than 30,000 people come out to witness 700 hot-air balloons launch from a 78-acre field outside the city.
  • Drive to surrounding attractions like Los Alamos National Laboratories, Bandelier National Park, Taos Pueblo, and Santa Fe to witness the rich history of New Mexico.

  • I'm trying to do something very adventurous for my boyfriends birthday. He lives in Albuquerque and I'm trying to stay in the area. He really wants to go bungee jumping. Is there any good bungee jumping in or close to Albuquerque, NM? Thanks!

  • My plans are to attend the balloon fiesta Oct. 3 thru 6 and will be staying at Kirkland AFB. I'll be traveling with my 87 year old limited mobility mother and would like to know if there are places at or near the site to accommodate the handicapped, or possibly an alternate means of transportation. (wheelchair but can do some walking)
