Agadir Surfing Travel Tips

  • Agadir’s coastline has some of the best surf spots in Africa, from reefs with long right handers to excellent beach breaks for all levels. Some of the more popular spots include Killer, Banana, Hash, and Boilers points, but the top surf spot is Anchor Point, named after the anchor whales found in the area.
  • The Agadir area sees its best ground swell waves in the winter, from September through April. Glassier conditions prevail in the summer months from May to August, but waves are still present and the water is warmer this time of year.
  • A few miles north of Agadir lies the atmospheric fishing village Taghazout, famous in the surf world for its Devil’s Rock surf point.

Nestled in a crescent-shaped bay on Morocco's sunny southwestern coast, Agadir is a beach Mecca for Europeans. A collection of large resorts loom above the expansive, arid beach alongside the Atlantic. Thankfully there is plenty of space to absorb the throngs who flock here in summer. Agadir is now Morocco's main beach destination: It has over 300 sunny days a year and plenty of direct flights from all over Europe.
