Agadir Windsurfing Travel Tips

  • Although Essaouira to the north is better know for its windsurfing, Agadir has decent windsurfing in its large bay. Just watch out for swimmers and jet skis, especially during the crowded months of July and August. There are security boats in the water, but you still need to keep your eyes peeled any time of year.
  • Agadir’s wind is generally thermal from the northwest and is gustier in the afternoons. From September through April there are bigger waves due to storms in the Atlantic, while the summer months of May through August offer glassier seas.
  • On Agadir’s beach, you’ll find many private vendors and resorts that rent out windsurf equipment by the hour or day, primarily open in the summer months.

A collection of large resorts loom above the expansive, arid beach alongside the Atlantic. Thankfully there is plenty of space to absorb the throngs who flock here in summer.
