Hello there! I am trying to plan a trip with my fianc�� this summer. We live in the suburbs of Chicago and are looking for an escape. We love nature and would love to go somewhere special in the Midwest with spectacular views of forests, lakes, caverns, waterfalls, and of course most importantly wildlife! She is an aspiring photographer and I would love this trip to give her the experience and photos to build her portfolio. The main thing that we are worried about is cost. We do not need a fancy hotel, but yet we do not want to sleep on the ground floor or in our car. A crummy hotel with a bed is all we need. What could we look into to fulfill our perfect getaway?

My family is looking to take a fall camping trip somewhere in the Midwest or Appalachian Mountain range. Our criteria is as follows... -campground with semi-wooded campsites -pretty fall foliage -town near by with quaint shops, fall festivals, etc. Places that we have visited in the past include Nashville, IN and Cosby, TN. I look forward to getting your thoughts on a good spot.
