  • The Pere Marquette is perhaps the most well known scenic river in the Huron-Manistee National Forests. It runs swift and clear for 66 miles through a green forested channel.
  • Resident brown trout on the lower reaches of the Middle Branch of the Pere Marquette routinely reach 20 inches, and the area tends to be less crowded than on the main river downstream. Put in at Bonney Road south of Chase off of Highway 10.
  • More than 2200 private campsites are dispersed through the watershed. Other outdoor recreational facilities provided by private sources include golf courses, horseback riding and skiing activities.
  • Boat and canoe access sites are well distributed on the mainstream. These include sites at: the Forks, Bowman's Bridge, Rainbow Rapids, Upper Branch Bridge, Walhalla Bridge, Indian Bridge, Scottville, and U.S. 31 Bridge.
