It is known for its nightclubs, shops, and restaurants, as well as for the great bay, Bahia de Acapulco, on which it sits. The Sierra Madre del Sur mountains provide a dramatic backdrop for this city that is built into and over hills and cliffs. Many of the city's most photographed buildings seem to be perched precariously on steep hillsides, with grand views from many restaurants and hotels.
