Cedar Tree Neck Sanctuary, open year-round, is just one parcel of the 2,200 acres of island land held in trust by the Sheriff's Meadow Foundation. Several walking and biking trails lead past bogs, brooks, beaches, cliffs, and a profusion of plant life. Keep walking, and you'll eventually reach a bluff overlooking Vineyard Sound and the Elizabeth Islands.
If you're up for some nightlife, Oak Bluffs, one of the only "wet" towns on the island, is your destination. Try the Offshore Ale Co., a casual brewpub with a wood-fired pizza oven.
For a corny day out, visit the FARM Institute in Edgartown and get lost in a corn maze. Two levels, beginner and advanced, guarantee a true challenge. And it's all for a good cause—entrance fees ($10 adults, $5 kids) go toward the Institute's educational projects.

my sisters and our families are planning to visit Martha's Vineyard for a day on a saturday and go home the same day, we are from CT. 6 adults and 4 kids and a corgie will go. we would like to see famous spots but dont know where to start. we plan to just drive around and take pictures, eat and go home. any suggestions? we'll be there august 22, 2009
