Chesapeake Bay Road Biking Travel Tips

  • Pedal down a mix of dedicated paved paths and designated road routes in the Greater Chesapeake Bay region of Maryland and Virginia.
  • The Baltimore and Annapolis Trail extends 13 miles along an 8-foot-wide paved track, connecting Annapolis and Glen Burnie. One terminus links the 11-mile BWI Trail, which makes a loop.
  • Zoom down the Great Delmarva Bicycling Trail, which travels rural roads and links 40 state parks and wildlife management areas.
  • Circle quiet roads in Dorchester County, home of legendary Underground Railroad "conductor" Harriet Tubman. Stop at the county visitor center for brochures and bike to the Harry Tubman Museum and Cultural Center.
  • The North Central Railroad Trail is a multi-use path extending 20 miles one-way from Ashland, Md., to the Pennsylvania state line. The southern end of the trail is the busiest.
