Part of the same group as the Dunloe Castle, this modern, five-story hotel has a picturesque setting right on the shores of the Lower Lake, adjacent to Killarney's two 18-hole championship golf courses and surrounded by mountain peaks. As this book was going to press, the hotel was closed for complete renovation, which promised to make it even more luxurious than it has been. Before the renovation, the hotel's public areas were spacious, open, and filled with antiques, while guest rooms had contemporary furnishings. Views from lakeside rooms are spectacular, and most rooms have private balconies.
