One of the nicest things about the Laurin is its exquisite city-center park with centuries-old trees and shady walkways set with sculptures. There's also a playground and swimming pool.
The hotel's name comes from the legend of the dwarf king Laurin, whose spectacular rose garden cast a rosy light on the Dolomites. After kidnapping a young woman, he was himself captured, but before being taken away put a spell on his roses so that no one could see them by day or night. He forgot dawn and dusk, and that's why the mountain Rosengarten still turns rosy at sunrise and sunset.
Ages two and under are free; there's a modest charge for ages three to 12, and that includes breakfast. If teens need an extra bed, there's a small charge. Some rooms are designated non-smoking.
