Dreams Cancun, formerly the Camino Real, is not specifically geared toward families, but it's certainly a good option for them. The hotel is located on a north-facing stretch of the hotel zone, meaning the surf is much mellower, and therefore more kid-friendly, than at other hotels. In fact, the hotel has two beach areas—one that's busy and used for guest activities, and another that's more secluded and low-key. You can snorkel right from the shore, which is a plus, and an on-site watersports shop offers guided snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, and parasailing excursions. Dreams also has an excellent kids' club, providing activities for youngsters and some precious alone time for mom and dad. On the downside, the pool areas are disappointingly small and competition for lounge chairs is even fiercer than usual. Rooms and food are standard all-inclusive issue—perfectly adequate, but not exactly five-star. Ocean-view rooms are most popular, although rooms on the other side

Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa is located on Punta Cancun, only resort surrounded on three sides by the beach and the turquoise sea in the heart of Cancun's hotel zone.

A variety of room and suite sizes meet any family's needs. All offer private balcony views of the ocean, beaches, lagoon or dolphins.
