Nearby Holyoke's 1800-acre Mount Tom State Reservation is threaded with plenty of hiking trails, and Norwottuck Rail Trail is a converted railroad bed connecting Northampton with Amherst, popular with bikers and walkers.

This small colonial-style inn features 32 rooms, including suites. All rooms feature complimentary high-speed wireless internet, and a desktop computer with internet access is also available for guest use. Complimentary breakfast is served in the dining room, often to the crackling of a fire in the winter. Northampton’s Victorian main drag and Smith college are a pleasant mile’s walk away, and Amherst is just ten minutes away, making the Autumn Inn a great retreat from which to venture into the area’s cultural milieu. The campus’ museum of art is noteworthy, as is the Lyman Plant House and Conservatory, famous for the gardens and arboretum.
