Built in 1884, this inn in the middle of The Street is one of the best-known stopping places in the valley. The innkeepers have restlessly scoured the establishment, over the last few years, replacing all the bathroom fixtures, refinishing the older furniture, and installing new carpeting. Antiques and reproductions are judiciously mixed throughout. With blazes in the several fireplaces and an atmospheric tavern in which to linger, this is as pleasant a setting as can be found. That said, the food served in the dining room and in the cafeteria, truth to tell, is no better than ordinary.
