The Galvez first opened in 1911 as the "Queen of the Gulf", and is a Wyndham Historic Hotel
The grounds are tropically stunning with palm trees and large green spaces surrounding the hotel.
The Hotel Galvez is a recipient of the Prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award.

Located on Seawall Blvd, the Hotel Galvez is across the street from the beach. It offers a full service spacious, swim-up bar and a billiard room on the seventh floor. There is a full continental breakfast and local shuttles for guests along with a concierge. The pool area includes an outdoor pool, jacuzzi, bar and outdoor grill. All guest rooms have unique island or ocean views an unforgettable scenery. There are seven rooms for physically disabled, 226 non-smoking rooms, and seven suites. All rooms have interior entrances in the eight-story complex.

Galveston's historic grand hotel, the Galvez has been thoroughly renovated to make the guest rooms more comfortable and to correct the mistakes of previous renovations. Rooms are spacious, well furnished (most with two double beds), and conservatively decorated. The hotel overlooks the seawall and one of the municipal beaches. It is also on the trolley line leading to the Strand district. Rates often run less than what is listed below.
