Guests of the George receive reduced rates on boat rentals and lake cruises from the Ullswater Launch Company.
Parents of picky eaters take note of these words from the owners: "All of our hotels offer a special children's menu, but if your child would like something else to eat, our chefs will be happy to accommodate this with plenty of notice." There are high chairs available in the restaurant.
While children are definitely welcomed and accommodated, families are asked to eat in the restaurant before 7:30 p.m.

The small, three-star George Hotel is comfortable and friendly with an in-town location, about four miles from Ullswater Lake. The George is part of a group of five hotels, all family owned and family run (one of its sister properties is Lodore Falls). All hotels in the group welcome children and families, and include such amenities as a "magic box" full of games and books and a baby-listening service so parents can eat in the restaurant while children are sleeping and be called if a child wakes up. Children also generally stay and eat free when staying in a room with two parents. The George is more than 300 years old and has the feel of a traditional English village inn. Although it doesn't have its own pool, hotel guests have use of a nearby gym and pool.
