  • Head to popular snorkeling site Hanauma Bay, formed from the Koko Head Crater.
  • Trek down the crater's rim from the parking lot to view coral formations in transparent turquoise water.
  • Watch for pedestrians. Because Hanauma Bay is just a 30-minute drive from downtown Honolulu, hot summer weekends mean crowded water.
  • Swim with more than 400,000 fish, including Puffer, bandit angel, yellow tang, butterfly fish—even moray eels and spotted eagle rays.
