Novice surfers will find gentle waves at Poipu Beach.
Head offshore to Ke'e Lagoon, Tunnels Reef, and Cannons—offshore dive sites ranging in depth from 12 to 65 feet. Underwater terrain includes coral reefs, lava tubes, and caves, all teeming with rainbow-hued fish.
Hit the South Shore along with new and experienced divers in winter, when waters are calm.
Mind the strong outgoing tide at North Shore's Anini Beach, the largest reef on Kauai.
