  • Shop nonstop or play all day at Sawgrass Mills, one of Florida's most popular tourist destinations. It houses more than 350 stores and outlets along with Wannado City, a role-playing theme park for kids.
  • Take a boat. You don't need a friend with a luxury yacht to enjoy Fort Lauderdale's waterways—water taxis are plentiful. Just avoid the more crowded 70-passenger "water buses."
  • Devote some time to downtown Fort Lauderdale's Riverwalk district, home to many museums, shops, restaurants, and galleries.
  • Renting a car is your best bet in sprawling Fort Lauderdale, but you can also use Tri-Rail to get from downtown to the Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Palm Beach airports, along with other top destinations.
