Florida Keys Travel Tips

  • Ride the Yankee Freedom ferry to Dry Tortugas National Park, about 70 miles west of Key West, where you can tour historic Fort Jefferson, see dolphins and endangered sea turtles, bird-watch, and snorkel.
  • Grab your swimsuit and get off at mile marker 37, about 12 miles south of Marathon, where you'll find Bahia Honda State Park and a beautiful beach that's been ranked among America's best.
  • Fly down to Key West if you don't have much time. But to get a real sense of place, and see some spectacular scenery, drive the 127-mile Overseas Highway.

  • How do you recommend getting between the mainland of FL and Key West? Are there ferries? Where do you board them?

  • I HAVE 3 CHILDREN 5,8,12. THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN THE BEACH. WE ARE TRAVELING THE 3RD WEEK OF APRIL. SO I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THEM SOMEWHERE WARM. I WAS THINKING KEY WEST HOWEVER, I WOULD LIKE IT TO BE MORE FAMILY NOT PARTY PARTY PARTY.I MY SELF HAVE BEEN TO MEXICO AND THE EAST COAST. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A CONDO.
