  • Burn rubber at that motorsports mecca known as the Daytona International Speedway, where attractions include the Accelerator Alley NASCAR simulator and the Pit Stop Challenge.
  • Drive your car right out on to the beach in one of the few places in the world where it's permitted. Note that this is only allowed in designated areas during daytime hours.
  • Take a day trip to historic St. Augustine. It dates back to the 16th century and is the oldest city in the United States.
  • Spot the 120-year-old Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse, the country's second tallest at 175 feet.
  • Consider steering clear of Daytona during major events, including the Daytona 500 in mid-February and Bike Week, an enormous meeting of motorcycle enthusiasts.

Daytona Beach is a town with many personalities. It is at once the self-proclaimed "World's Most Famous Beach" and "World Center of Racing," a mecca for tattooed motorcyclists and pierced spring-breakers, and the home of a surprisingly good art museum.
