Punta Cana Windsurfing Travel Tips

  • The winds are at their strongest and most consistent from late spring until the end of summer, with June being the windiest month.
  • As a general rule, afternoons tend to be windier than mornings, and afternoon wind speeds can range from 10 to 25 miles per hour, year round.
  • Beginner windsurfers will be happy just trying their luck in the shallow waters off of their resort (most resorts in Punta Cana offer boards in their all-inclusive price), but more experienced windsurfers will want to rent a car and make the half-day journey to the north coast bay of Cabarete, a famous windsurfing spot in the Dominican Republic.

Like a crown jewel on the eastern-most tip of the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana is one of the best stretches of sand (nearly 20 miles) and adjoining coral reef in the Caribbean. Once sugar-cane plantations and pastureland, the Punta Cana area, which includes the newer Playa Bavaro development to the north, began with Club Med in 1980, and is now home to nearly thirty sprawling resorts, each with hundreds of rooms.   • Which location I should go for vacation in Punta Cana with my child? This is my first time going to Punta Cana. I would like you know which location, best 5 star hotel/resort you would recommend. I am travelling with my friend and my son who is 10yrs. We will stay for one week Aug 16 to 23. And looking for all inclusive. Please advise. Thanks.
