With the increasing number of direct flights into Liberia, San José is no longer the de facto transportation hub for all tourists coming to Costa Rica, but most do still fly in and out of the country's capital. For years, my stock advice to tourists in terms of San José has been to get in and out as quickly as possible. For most, this remains good council. But San José is the country's only major metropolitan city, with varied and active restaurant and nightlife scenes, several museums and galleries worth visiting, and a steady stream of theater, concerts, and other cultural events that you won't find elsewhere in the country.   • I am planning a Costa Rica get-away. I want to know if this time of year is an ok time to go. Do they have hurricanes there? I know this is there rainy season. I don't mind some rain. I just don't want have a trip ruined by rain every day. Thanks
