  • Visit the Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe houses—19th-century homes turned into museums dedicated to these two American literary icons, both of whom called Hartford home.
  • Alas, the Hartford Whalers are no more, but Hartford's American Hockey League team, the Wolf Pack, still plays in the Hartford Civic Center Coliseum on Ann Street.
  • Stroll the new Wallace Stevens Walk, dedicated to Hartford's most famous poet. The 2.4-mile trail starts at The Hartford insurance building, where Stevens worked, and is marked with stones bearing lines from his magnum opus, "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird."
