Grand Mesa National Forest Snowmobiling Travel Guide

Grand Mesa has more than 100 miles of marked snowmobile trails that are routinely groomed. All trail systems, including cross-country skiing trails, are accessed from the CO 65 corridor. As a general rule, snowmobile trails are flagged with orange markers and Nordic trails are flagged with blue.
Indian Point is a popular snowmobile route and ranges in difficulty from moderate to more difficult. Indian Point Trail is designed for use by hikers and equestrians most of the year. It is closed to motorized vehicles; however, snowmobilers are permitted on the snow.
The U.S. Forest Service urges snowmobilers to participate in local user groups, such as the Snowskippers of Grand Junction, the Delta Snokrusers, and the North Fork Snowmobile Club in Paonia. The groups give members detailed information on where they should and should not travel for their chosen recreational pursuit. The U.S. Forest Service in this area is very keen on keeping all snow sport users happy.
Most of Grand Mesa's trails stand at 9,000 feet or above and are regularly groomed. The main section of trail is called the "SP" for "Sunlight to Powderhorn." The rest of the trails are numbered according to the mile marker at which they intersect the SP as you travel east. The trails offer something for everyone, from the calm Land's End Loop to more experienced climbs.
