Napa Valley Gay and Lesbian Travel Tips

  • Be sure to go wine tasting in Sonoma, not just Napa. Napa’s wineries are packed and chocked with traffic in summer—and many charge for wine tastings. Sonoma is less crowded with tourists, and many wineries do not charge for tastings.
  • Watch out for winter. Even though they’re in sunny California, Napa and Sonoma can be cold and rainy in winter and the vines devoid of foliage. September and October are harvest months and are a fun time to visit, too.
  • You can fly into Sonoma. If you want to avoid driving and land directly in wine country, there is air service from San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento airports via the Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa, just 16 miles from Guerneville.
