  • Yachting is a major pursuit in Bermuda, attracting sailors from around the world. Although small in area, Bermuda is home to many unoccupied coves, bays, and beaches that are easy to explore.
  • Racing season in Bermuda runs from March to November, with most races held on the weekends in the Great Sound. A number of major races originating from the U.S. finish in Bermuda, including the Annapolis-Bermuda and the Newport-Bermuda races, both held in June.
  • The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club in Hamilton is the main yachtie hangout, but a number of smaller boat clubs are sprinkled throughout the islands' parishes.
  • If you don't feel like hiring a full yacht charter, smaller Boston whaler motorboats are easily rentable for day trips to the archipelago's uninhabited islands.

This small slice of subtropical paradise is less than a two-hour flight from New York and other East Coast cities, and is firmly planted in the Atlantic—despite assumptions that it is part of the Caribbean. Another common misconception is that Bermuda is one island, when it is actually comprised of over 180 islets—only about 20 are inhabited—tightly grouped together in a fishhook outline linked by bridges.   • Car seat for a 16 month old while in Bermuda? My husband and I are traveling to Bermuda with or 16month old. I am concerned about getting around the island via taxi. Although we do not plan on spending much time touring the island I am still concerned about her safety while transfering from the airport to the hotel and back. I am trying to avoid hauling the car seat with me. Any suggestions?
