Barbados Travel Tips

  • Dance to Bajan and Caribbean music during the Crop Over festival.
  • Witness the wild waves on the East Coast, but leave your suit at the hotel—strong currents make swimming difficult.
  • Come for the 12-foot waves from October to March; half-size swells are the norm April through September.
  • Seek respite from the sun in the wetlands at Chancery Lane, Inch Marlow, and Graeme Hall. Flowers, fish, and birds nest here in summer and early fall.
  • Cushion your feet in sandy-bottomed waters on the West Coast, where waves are calm and inviting.

Barbados Travel Guide

Endless pink- and white-sand beaches and a rich West Indian tradition are what put Barbados (Bar-bay-dose) on the map. Barbados is easily reached from the United States and has a grand array of hotels (many of them super expensive). Although it doesn't offer casinos, it has more than just beach life. It's a terrific destination for travelers interested in learning about West Indian culture, and it has more sightseeing attractions than most Caribbean islands. Read More

  • We are an extended family of 20 with 11 children ranging from 2 to 18 -4 families and a grandmother. We went to Mexico last January 1 and found it nice but not quite warm enough and not enough for the kids to do at the hotel. We went to Chel-ha and Telum but we would like for there to be lots of activities at the resort as well. We have a budget of about $1700.00-$1800.00 per person before taxes. Is there somewhere you can recommed for us?? Did I mention beautiful beach and lots of restauraunt choices?? A tall order, thank you so much. Catherine
