Aruba Scuba Diving Travel Tips

  • Arid desert terrain on this small island near the Netherland Antilles provides a backdrop starkly contrasting the marine-life-rich coral gardens that surround the island. Most of the island's more than 30 dive sites lie along the tranquil southwest shore, which is protected from wind and rough seas.
  • While Aruba has abundant healthy reefs, the island's claim to fame among divers is its diverse collection of shipwrecks. From historical World War II cargo ships, such as the Antilla, to wrecks intentionally scuttled for divers, such as the Star Gerren, and even sunken airplanes, Aruba's waters have wrecks to fit any diver's needs.
  • Dive operators around Aruba offer morning and afternoon dive trips to all of the island's best dive sites—prices start at around $70 for a two-dive trip. Similar to Aruba's sister islands of Bonaire and Curaçao, loads of impressive shore diving exists here as well. Sites like Baby Beach Reef and De Palm Slope can be dived right from the beach at any time of the day.
