Sedona Fishing Travel Tips

  • A sure bet for a catch, try the Rainbow Trout Farm for some family fun. If you don’t have your own gear you can rent a cane pole and bait. The staff will even clean and pack your catch for you too. Located three miles north of Sedona.
  • Oak Creek provides an abundance of fishing throughout Oak Creek Canyon. Stocked with rainbow trout and very accessible, Oak Creek is the perfect option to teach the kids to fish.
  • Dead Horse Ranch State Park, in the Verde Valley just southwest of Sedona, has some nice fishing along the Verde River. An added bonus, there are also more than 100 bird species, including the Bald Eagle in the winter season. A day use fee is in effect.
  • Dead Horse Park Lagoon in the state park is a four-acre lagoon periodically stocked with trout, sunfish, and catfish.

There is not a town anywhere in the Southwest, perhaps anywhere in the country, with a more beautiful setting than Sedona. On the outskirts of town, red-rock buttes, eroded canyon walls, and mesas rise into cerulean skies. Off in the distance, the Mogollon Rim looms, its forests of juniper and ponderosa pine dark against the rocks. With a wide band of rosy sandstone predominating in this area, Sedona has come to be known as red-rock country, and each evening at sunset, the rocks put on an unforgettable light show that is reason enough for a visit.   • we are driving from pheonix to sedona and staying in sedona 3 dys, going to the grand canyoun south rim and then on to Las vegas for another 2 dys. I am looking for recommendations on scenic drives to and around these areas.
