Flagstaff Camping Travel Tips

  • Kinnikinick Campground is located 38 miles southeast of Flagstaff near the popular trout fishing spot Kinnikinick Lake. Open mid-May through the end of September, the campground has 13 single-unit sites with tables, fire rings, and grills. A boat ramp is accessible at the lake.
  • Ashurst Lake Campground and Forked Pine Campground are on Kinnikinick lakeshore, which boasts great fishing and windsurfing. Located about 20 miles southeast of Flagstaff, each campground has 25 sites open May though October. Bird watching is also a favorite activity here, particularly during spring migration.
  • Lakeview Campground is located 12 miles southeast of Flagstaff on Lake Mary Road. Renovated in 2002, tents and small motor homes are permitted on the 30 single-unit sites. This campground has easy forest access where you can find wildlife such as elk, mule deer, Bald Eagles, and migratory waterfowl.
  • Double Springs Campground and Dairy Springs Campground are located 24 miles southeast of Flagstaff near Mormon Lake and Mormon Lake Village. Fishing is the primary activity in this area, but there are also plenty of hiking trails that lead to some nice scenic overlooks. Double-Springs has 30 single-unit sites and Dairy Springs has two group sites that can accommodate up to 80 people total.
  • Canyon Vista Campground is open May through October and takes no reservations. There are 11 single-unit sites available with drinking water, fire rings, and cooking grills. Canyon Vista is located near Walnut Canyon and Lower Lake Mary. Some nice views of San Francisco Peaks as well as nearby trailheads are located here.
